Desser 31s
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
I saw a set of Desser 31s mounted on gar aero 10 inchers at Lake Hood strip today. Looks like a hot setup for skywagons.

These on Airframes Alaska 10 inch wheels may be my next set of rubbers once my 31 Bushwheels wear out.

10" AKBW wheels don't have a valve stem hole.

The 10x10s do, which is the equivalent wheel to the Gar Aero in the picture above.

you need the gar aero stc to run those dessers - or a field approval
The abw 10x10 wheel will only get you 29 x 10s buffed airhawks, I think.

The Gar STC includes the same tires as the ABW, 29.11-10 and 850-10. Needs a field approval either way.

Thanks for the correction.

Supposedly Desser is working on an STC, which would be sweet. Seems like they'd be a good compromise between the 29 Air Hawks and "real" bush wheels.

That's the first time I've seen the Desser 31's fitted and installed on an aircraft.
I've got to say, I like the look of the 31 ABWs a lot better.

They must provide a great deal more cushioning.

Interested to hear pireps, a lot of wagon drivers seem to not like 31" ABW due to soft sidewall on sloped terrain. I love my 31" ABW but will seriously consider the desser's next go round.

Same here. I would like 31" ABWs but they don't have the load rating so I was about to pull the trigger on 29s. Now I have hope!

I have a suspicion that Airframes Alaska will be adding these tires to their offerings with their 10 inch wheel. There is much less sidewall flex than 31 Bushwheels which will be well suited to the 180s and 185s. There are no grooves, which is good news for props and tails. They are exactly half the price of the 31s, so if they turn out to work well on mid weight bush birds that see their share of pavement, they seem like a pretty decent choice to me. Time will tell.

Looks like $895 each for the 25# Desser 31's.
http://www.desser.com/aircraft-tires-an ... -4-ply.aspCompared to $531 for the 27# buffed 29" Airhawks.
http://www.airframesalaska.com/Buffed-A ... -11-10.htmI believe they use the same tube so that cost would be the same.
I dunno what the actual O.D. size difference is between these two. Other than (probably) being bigger, what advantage would the Desser have over the Airhawk? Softer sidewall but stiffer than a BW?

The Desser 31's measure up just about the same as a set of 29" bushwheels when mounted on the ABI 10" wheel. They are larger than the Airhawks. They do not use the same tube. They have 31x11x10 tubes.

That is the part I was missing

. One of my flying pals has a 185. I made a jiggle hose long enough to get gas from his wing into my bushwheel bag. Its like flying with your own personal tanker. We just got back from a 5 day fly around. He had GOOD bottle wine I had box wine.

I just got this flyer in the mail from Desser. I dunno if they just mailed it to their customer list, or if they mailed one to everyone in the country with a taildragger.
