High Sierra Fly-In 2013 Photo Thread

I just got back from 3SGS and there was about 22 planes on the ground when I left. It looks like we are going to have a great turn out this year! I have to work tomorrow so I couldn't stay. I'll be back out on Saturday. Here are a few pics from today...

Jealous! Looks like fun. Got to try to plan a fall adventure to see if I can get the plane down there for this...love it!

Re: High Sierra Fly-In 2013 Photo Thread

Just got back a couple hours ago from the lake bed. A great time was had by all! I believe we had 64 planes stay at the lake bed last night. I didn't take many pictures since I got to back to the lake bed just before sunset last night. I did get a few pics from flying this morning though.

Re: High Sierra Fly-In 2013 Photo Thread

What a great fly in. I was really bummed I had to return home. Otherwise It was great to be able to lead a group of people out in the morning to the north. I of course had to start the day by waking everybody up. I counted about 40+ airplanes first thing on Sat morning. Glad it got even more people later on sat. I can only image how many people we will have next year! Also I am glad that everyone was able to get some use out of the pilot guide this year. We will try and start providing something like that for all big fly ins, if it increases safety I am all about that. Anyway, here are some pics!

Lake Tahoe on the way...such a great view.

Thanks to all and especially Kevin for organizing this and making sure we all had such a great time. It was great to see friends and make new ones. The flying and weather were both superb. Here are a few more photos from the trip:

Man what a weekend! Thanks to ALL OF YOU for coming! It was a real treat for me having all of you flying here. Having spent so much time around here going in and out of places and now getting to share it is just awesome! As the photos start to come in here I will add a few. I am really looking forward seeing all of your photos. Keep them coming.

The next set of photos here are of "High Boy"...its the real thing. The landing is just under 250' uphill, narrow, and a 9400' field elevation... #-o When looking at this group shot here our next landing "High Boy" is between the two guys on the left here. Still not certain how we had all of those planes up there...BUT IT WAS AWESOME!!! I was a nervous nelly kicking myself the entire time watching everyone land wondering why I was doing this.

And the departure...Its basically a Hang-glider takeoff. Downhill and at about 250' or so you hit the jump as shown here.

More to come....lots more...Court and Grants photos should be out in a couple days. They both have some superb images as do all of you that have posted above here.

That looks a little sideways...with the left tire looking pretty overworked...I wonder what my landings look like in freeze frame?
