Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Cadiz Dry Lake bed haul road. Real nice harder than concrete salt road. One of my bone heads [-X lost 2 tires & wheels off my trailer (semi) he didn't notice they were missing till the brake drum fell off while making a turn (almost 20 miles after the wheels came off). I had to do an air search to find the tires & wheels. The things I've got to do to make a living  Really glad nobody was in the path of those tires when they came off

One of the sweetest running trucks I ever drove was a IHC 4070B with a 380PC Cat. Anyway, another guy was driving it and met a set of duals off another truck head-on in the radiator and the truck was totalled. Does any of that salt find it's was into the nooks and crannies on the airframe?

Re: Where did you fly today?

Great pics and video L-19. The old dog sounds sweet!

After almost a month hiatus, I was able to get back in the air. I found a nice little ridge nearby for a sunset shot.

Hey S-12Flyer..

I have to respectfully ask you to remove your Castle Valley video from Youtube. I've camped out there and I don't want anybody else finding out how awesome it is. OK?

Thx.

Cool video. No need to ask if you had a good time. =D>

Marty, that's the first time I've ever landed on the salt and I don't plan on making a habit of it. It's not at all loose.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I had to run out to Porcupine Pass, north of Kilgore, about 100 miles, I have a solar job going on there. Trying to find a spot to land wasn't much of a challange! This is the same field I ski landed in last winter.Image After taking care of business, istead of heading south back home, I flew the Pass and eventually came over the continental divide by Monida Pass. It's real mild there no big deal. Back home by 10:30, driving I'd just be getting there.Image

Thanks, Early morning it is fun to weave in an out of the spires. Just around the corner from Delores point. A fun strip up at 8200' overlooking Gateway.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Saturday was great in the Puget Sound area.

Did a little tour from Harvey to Skykomish State, then to Sky Harbor, to Jefferson County for burger and fries and back home.

Here are a couple of vids for Skykomish and Sky Harbor.

Bit of a tailwind at Skykomish w/ uphill landing. Got a gust from the rear just before touch down which gave a bit of a bounce and got to log two landings there

Re: Where did you fly today?

I dropped into Lenhardt's tonight via Toyota pickup to deliver some BCP swag to Dokmow. What a wonderful place... first time I've ever driven in though and wow did it seem like a long drive from home. Ran into another BCPer named Dave in his new J-5A.

Had my mom with me, who had fun chatting with Terri Lenhardt and the Prossers. Terri was out flying in the Ercoupe.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Yesterday, I took a 9 year old boy for his first flight in an airplane. We didn't make it up to the farm, as clouds north of the airport were too low, but we hung around south of the airport and cruised along. As he was perched on top of a PFD cushion, a blanket, and an Oregon aero seat cushion to see over the instrument panel, I had the rudders - but at cruise, I mostly turned the yoke over for some circling and cruising around.

The grin was wide enough I could tell how good a job he did brushing his back molars.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Nice Tom. I need to check those out sometime. Report from WADOT Aviation (Paul), The Wenatchee strip should be in good condition.
Another report from a Cashmere pilot is that the trees are getting tall and encroaching on the runway ends. Keep an escape over fish lake in mind when departing.

Fantastic Dot. Hopefully a new budding pilot. Way to go!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Just got back from Oshkosh. I stopped at over 20 airports there and back and covered over 3500 nautical miles and spent 47.2 hours in the airplane. The little Coyote never skipped a beat. Flew from Oakdale California over Tahoe, through Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. The only maintenance item was that I had to add 1/2 quart of oil in Oklahoma. Too much to write here but I'm writing it up in my blog. It's here if anyone is interested: http://airpayer.net

Re: Where did you fly today?

Yesterday Nate and I found this nice little ridge on a neighbors property just above 6000ft. Made for a nice approach and landing.

Looking down the "strip" (about a 1000ft of real estate).

Heading out for a little more fun tomorrow evening. :)

I had some AF related training today at the Nut Tree Airport. It was a good excuse to fly to work!

I saw this familiar looking plane while I was there too :)
