Re: 2012 Atlin Floats and Wheels Flyin & Campin

Atlin is a great place, last time I was there we rented a big houseboat for a long weekend and cruised the lake, it was way cool,

I will be there for this party if I can, sure looks like fun to me. It's just a hop over the ridge from home as long as the cloud cover is high enough to go straight over.

Great history of gold mining with some going on now.

I can offer some fishing in Haines as a side trip.

Shane... I had forgotten about this...the houseboat...its still there...man o man..I'll be making some phone calls this week-end to book it as I'm sure a bunch of rowdy so called "bush Pilots" could make a great use of it  The view is AMAZING. I'm up for the fishing trip too for the day after 4th of July..that'll be the 5th!

Gump it will be a lot of fun. Spoke to Paul Claus a couple days ago, he will try to make it as well.

Cheers, J-M

Great news, Kevin Psutka, President and CEO of Canadian Owners and Pilots Association ( and VP North America International Council
of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations) will be joining us in Atlin along with his friend Bram Tilroe. So come down, or up to "Meet the President". BCT

Z, I'm sure someone here can hook you up with a cheap bird!! Good questions, well Atlin is in the middle of the wilderness so by all means bring your pooch. You'll be only a 35/40 min flight straight across from the Juneau Ice field from JNU to YSQ...its a wicked flight on a nice day... I dont know if you've ever flown the back side thru the Taku River but there is some spectacular views of glaciers on one side and majestic waterfalls on the other in between all the wildlife!

Re: 2012 Atlin Floats and Wheels Flyin & Campin

I am quite familiar with the area, as I flew Pt 135 out of JNU all last summer. I was offered a free ride to Atlin in one of Ward Air's Beavers, but...never made it...I always seemed to be working when they went over.

Many campgrounds are dog-unfriendly, so, that was the source of the question.
Another complication would be...quarantine laws and all that BS. I don't expect you to know all that...its something I would have to research.
I am currently in "pre-buy" research mode as far as an airplane is concerned. I hope to get serious about a purchase by early summer. I am currently looking for a Maule on floats.

Perhaps we'll meet at Atlin!

Theresa and I flew to Alaska in 2010 via Atlin. It was the trip of a lifetime :D I'd love to do it again, but with 2 or 3 other airplanes. Here's a video of our trip:

Beautiful place. Flew from Idaho to Alaska last summer. Stopped in Tsuniah Lake and Atlin. Great good weather route. May have to do it again!

Will make plans to be there, was there a few years ago in the 195, If I have to go somewhere and disappear for the rest of my life, you can look for me in Atlin.
When any of you guys and gals head up that way, fly up the Casear Hiway and take in the Grand Canyon of the North (The Stikine River Canyon just south of Dease Lake) Then just North of there is an Awesome Park (Mt Adziza) that has some fantastic volcano craters and mounds to fly by!
Some of the Nicest people anywhere live there.
Atlin happens to be the only city in BC that you can't get there by car without going somewhere else!!
Looking forward to seeing you all.
Gump, You can check on that Beach front Property on your way up!

This is shaping up to be a well attended event. Tried to get to Atlin a couple of years ago and got stuck on Kitchener Lake in Tatlatui Prov Park for 3 days due to weather. One of the best little cabins we have found saved the day. We will try and make it, too.

Two of us BC'ers coming up for sure, maybe another one if FF's old girl will start (Not you Wendy). :) First big adventure for me!
Survival gear & Mtn flying seminars welcome by me, hope I don't need that info BEFORE I get there! :)
Will be good to hear KevinP again too, he spoke @ our BC Floatplane AGM a couple years ago. (@ Nimpo)
Friend from Juneau/Haines to meet us via truck or jetboat.
Am I cranked? I think YeeHaw describes it.
