It certainly does fly slow.

What is the advantage of the extreem tall landing gear?

Allows the airplane to land at a higher angle relative to the ground. Also, as demonstrated in the video, it helps you crash your airplane :)

I love the humor on this site. My coworks have recomended that seek counselling on regular occasions but I'll laugh for no apprent reason. When I tell them what made me laugh they uslually say, "I'll call and make the appointment now."

NoseDragger :)
Probably should have done a weight and balance first.
Probably dusted it off and flew it home.

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

Re: Long Legged Cub Mishap... Video stolen from SC.org

I think it's just "stolen" from Youtube. That video was up briefly 2 days ago, but then the owner removed it. Now it's back. I wonder what that was all about.

Your looking at this completely wrong! That was a short landing, did he win?

Looks like a Mackey SQ2 wing. The leading edge slats need a horrendous aoa to function properly.

Re: Long Legged Cub Mishap... Video stolen from SC.org

That Cub is already flying again too. I was playing around in the Knik River area a couple days ago and spotted it. I thought it was interesting because I had already seen a different video of the same nose-over earlier that day! I guess he REALLY wants to win at Valdez this year!

here is some photographic proof.

Its on the lower left side above my cowling.

The interesting thing is that he came in pretty flat (i.e. not even using the slats). I wonder if he was unable to get the tail down lower because of the long gear. With the weight of the gear hanging that low, the tail would need to be more effective to "lift" that longer arm created by the mega-extended gear legs. Bummer!

That's close to a camo paint scheme for that neck of the woods. Really tough to pick out against the trees and flats.
