Jackson Hole Airport

I know alot of you guys and gals are pilots and we need your help.

The National Park Service is soliciting comments regarding this and everyone is welcome to post their comments with the NPS. The only thing required in the comment is to support the lease extension or not. To date some radical organizations have flooded the comment box with negative replies. We need all the positive comments possible and this is the only way I know how to make it happen.

Please go to http://parkplanning.nps.gov/document.cfm?parkId=68&projectId=12099&documentId=26487 and click on comment on document.

This in not a hoax and your help is critically needed to secure the future of Jackson Hole Airport. Please feel free to pass this on and/or contact me with any questions.

Thank you

Ben Haas. AOPA ASNV KJAC

Ben,

That link didn't work for me, at least. Any other information would be welcome.

I think MTV will agree with me (as someone who has probably worked with a lot of environmental impact statements) that in reading the executive summary of the draft EIS, we don't have much to worry about on this particular issue. That being said comments are always important \:D/

JAC is essential to the economic well being of the community. If it weren't there, how would I land my 747 when I want to fish Lewis lake?

Re: Jackson Hole Airport

Done, and thanks for the heads up. While the airport will remain open for many years whichever way this goes, without the lease extension, AIP funds would no longer be available, and those funds generally fund 90 % plus of maintenance and improvement projects on an airport with federal funds. Without the AIP funds, maintenance would be difficult, and the airport would definitely go downhill.

Re: Jackson Hole Airport

I would love to help an Airport but in this case I can not. I called there about 1 ½ years ago to land there and see some family. I was told there was a $25-$45 landing fee and a $20 handling fee depending on the size of my aircraft, no matter if I bought fuel or not. I asked how much tie down was for three nights, I was told the fee would be $50.00 a night, if there was a place to park. I asked if I could reserve a spot to park, and I was told NO!!! Apparently I was not in a nice enough airplane.

I called Driggs, ID airport and was treated very well. They even parked my plane for me after I fueled the plane. No landing fee and they did not charge me for tie down for the three nights.

Unless things have changed I will not support that Airport or the FBO. Sorry!!!

Re: Jackson Hole Airport

I parked the 206 at JAC right next to Cheney's jet a couple of years ago. three days, no fees of any kind.

Wayne, they may have rubbed you the wrong way, but to allow the precedent that enviro-hippies can organize and close any airport shouldn't be allowed to happen. Today it's them, tomorrow maybe an airport that you do like.
