I plan on taking my H&K .40 with me. Any funky gun laws that I need to know for CA, OR, WA, or MT. I don't have my concealed weapons permit, which wouldn't help anyway since some states don't reciprocate. More than likely, it will stay in the aircraft and my tent 99% of the time.

Well if you want info on what you are
supposed to do and (hopefully) not a debate...if you are in Stehekin it should be unloaded and put away, since you are in North Cascades/Lake Chelan National Recreation Area and NPS regulations apply. Didn't see anywhere else on your trip where this might apply?
In Montana the open and visible carry of firearms is very liberally allowed; and you can also carry
concealed without a permit outside of city or town limits, or outside of logging or mining camps, or if you are one "who is lawfully engaged in hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, hiking, backpacking, farming, ranching, or other outdoor activity in which weapons are often carried for recreation or protection." So long as you aren't in a bank, school, government office, or intoxicated, or where alcoholic beverages are served or sold. Whew!

But,
no prohibition on carrying inside a vehicle, except in National Park Service areas.
Can't speak to the other states.
