Have a great time, guys! I won't be back on Oregon soil until 9pm on Sunday. Probably a little late to head over there then. :D

Haha I think so!

Edit: Yeah my spot track shows me right over Monroe at 1:15, you must have a damn good eye! Since I had to be over 3,000' at that point I think?

FYI there's a TFR west of Bend for those of you returning to Central Oregon. A fire popped up today. Should have no problems getting in to the airport. The TFR borders the west side of Golpher Gulch Airstrip.

Hope ya'll are having fun!

Re: Update: PNW Season Opener -Now with PICS!

What a great time! We had a pretty good turn out between friday and saturday night. We had some amazing desserts thanks to Little John & Laura Lee! (You two are awesome!) But this is part of the trip from my view!

Thursday night I actually went to help Rob with his airplane & make sure my plane was good to go for our friday afternoon departure. However when I arrived I noticed something wasn't right with the angle of the plane. I realized the left main was flat....great! But within a minute it was on a jack and I had it apart a few minutes later.
Image
Luckily my mechanic had a spare tube. So about 30 minutes later I was pulling the airplane out of the hangar fully loaded, very much in part with the help of my co-pilot!

With no real headwinds or tailwinds we soon found ourselves descending for Powers Oregon. It got a bit bumpy on the way down but I was able to shoot a picture of Agness (Lucas lodge) where we would go for breakfast.
Image

Then suddenly the terrain dropped off and powers was in sight!
Image

Friday night a bunch of people had come down to hang out for a few hours. It was a good time and we had a few beverages! It was really nice to meet some new people that i've seen posting for a while!
Image

Saturday morning we headed down to Lucas lodge after the low clouds burned off that trapped us at Powers!

Several members of the group! With Brent & Carla ensuring their presence in the picture!

Panoramic View of Lucas Lodge - Very smooth runway but not exactly flat!
Image

There is a good story behind this one....needless to say the owner can pick it up anytime he wants!
Image

We made our way back to powers instead of hiking on the coast due to a forecast of really high winds. I think it was a great choice. We walked into town with the group, of which Zane now had finally arrived & a few others. We walked in and got some ice cream for a $1.25. I don't think I know of many places you can get a cup/2-3 scoops of ice cream for that little. But Jacks has it. Then a few headed off to the Tavern while we headed back with Cold beer & Ice.
Image

When we got back Rick & Harley had showed up and Justin (Dudesickle) also showed up. He was pretty happy that I picked him up some cold beer in town. We also found out that Rob & Stacey would be making it soon. However they'd stopped in Illinois valley and the truck wasn't working. So they had to fly to Gold Beach where the wind was apparently howling at 40mph down the pipe. They got some fuel and soon where relaxing with some cold beverages at Powers. Janelle & Stacey had a good time playing with Aubrey on the beautiful day.
Image

The rest of the day we ended up hanging out under Little Johns Maule. It provides great shade! We moved with the shade and some of us soon found ourselves immersed in the sun, but still having fun with our beverages and conversation. Eventually the sun started to fall and cool down.
Image

We started a fire and some of the members had some Zima's....I mean a few to Many IPA's and decided to pose!
Image

We enjoyed the evening and we had some more amazing dessert again from Laura Lee. Soon we realized we'd have a later morning, the fog had already started to roll in. In the morning we waited till around 9 or so and finally got off the ground. It was a nice flight home for us, until we landed and the temperature was & still is 98* out. I am ready to come back to Oregon or the PNW right now!

Again it was a blast and I look forward to next year!
