BLM Google Earth Overlay
Not necessarily information about airstrips or airports, but more general info about a greater area or a route of flight.

Found this link while wasting time on my computer. Pretty cool, overlays all BLM lands on Google Earth.

Thanks for posting! This is pretty sweet, thought I already did spot some small inaccuracy, but a fun tool to use non the less.

Tyler Adams, aka Chosstronaut, perished in a mid-air collision October 12, 2014. He was an enthusiastic and beloved contributor and he will be missed greatly.
Yeah it probably won't be accurate to within 10 meters but it will be close enough to give you an idea. the best resource is the geocommunicator web site. But if you're not landing near the BLM borders you *might* stand a chance of not getting hassled.
I did find some areas down here that are not wilderness preservation areas but are being treated as such anyway. No motorized access of any kind. Smacks of being illegal to me. But I'm no expert.

Hey Scott I opened the link and is interesting but later opened my google earth and the overlay is there also. How do you get it back without the overlay.
Thanks
Tom

There should be a checkbox next to the listed overlays in the left column. Deselect it. I think, that's just from memory.

If there has ever been a airstrip on BLM land it is forever a airstrip for incidental use. According to BLM policy manditated by U.S. congress law it can't be closed . This "limited use" is for non commeriacl use and I believe limited to 10 operations per month ,can't put any perentant structure or even pour concrete, or remove any artifacts. OK to " clean up " bushes and rearrange things that may be in the "airstrip" , think I just found my next operations area. Has house adjacent to old runway.
