I counted around 30 planes on Saturday. Loved the variety of aircraft this group has.

The turnout was smaller than normal, but the enjoyment level as good as ever. Good times. good people. Thanks to Wilga Beast, a good party.

Good one Robertc, but really, that landing was maybe a 4 out of 10 on what that gear can take, that's not even a little bit embarrassing, just business as usual! Well, at least for a spot landing event.... Hey at least the spot cone is in the frame :D

I really need a better camera - the iPhone 5 does a great job, but there are some incredible pics from the true photogs on here. At any rate, here goes:

Waiting out the rain on Friday, trying to leave Sandpoint, ID - we had planned on leaving at 7:30 am, got out at 3:30 pm!

Image

Typical 185 interior view, right?

Image

Um, I guess I didn't realize we were on a slight slope... yep - all my fuel ended up in the left wing! (added Shutdown check final item: Fuel Selector Valve - OFF)

Image

First time using our new Claw Tie-Down Kit. It worked awesome! I am going to replace the dinky little hammer in the kit, tho...

This was as close as Tanya would let me get with the camera on Saturday morning!

The smoke did make for some cool pictures, though! This is Pops in his awesome Cub:

I could swear we got more gear OUT of the plane when we got home! I still haven't found anything extra - it all seems to be ours so far...

Image

We had a great time - really looking forward to the next event we can make it to!

Re: 2014 BCP Garden Valley Fly-In Picture Thread

After I attend events like this I realize how few pictures I take and also how few actually turn out, but here goes...

Getting out of the Seattle area took some serious patience on Friday. I was wheels up at 2:45 p.m. and then back on the ground (100 miles away) waiting out the rain by 3:45 p.m.

Finally cleared enough for me to make it to the gorge....

Finally out of it..

At Big Creek after my first landing there. This was a hoot, but it was dampened a little from the accident earlier. I need bigger wheels
Image

The flight back on Sunday was pretty uneventful, but lower ceilings afforded some shots of the local sights.

Re: 2014 BCP Garden Valley Fly-In Picture Thread

Ok Zane, you wanted some pics. Normally after our summer trip I'd post a TR on it, but since we ended up deciding to go straight to Johnson Creek and forego the Montana and Northern Idaho part of our trip due to weather, I'm going to just post pics from the week here. And since there were a large number of BCPers at JC for the week, I'm considering it an annex to the fly-in. So, here are some pics from the week as well as the get together on Saturday. Despite the rain, we had a fun week. Didn't get to do all the flying that I wanted, but still got some in between rain showers. I'll post some short flying clips later.

On our way to the backcountry. Two kids already sacked out!
Image

Our friend followed us up in the plane I used to fly (the old CAP plane) and upon doing a go around at JC, blew a jug. Unable to maintain altitude at full throttle, he did a great job on doing a 180 around the white house and getting it on the ground...landing north.
Image

Here came the rain...and it rained for the next 3 days. Luckily it broke enough to get out and fly a little each day.
Image

Which meant a lot of tent time. Thank goodness for a good cartoon selection on the iPad and a place to recharge it!
Image

Smore's around a warm campfire.
Image

The kids liked the wagons.
Image

We had a visitor one night.
Image

Breakfast in camp.
Image

Did you know that there are wild strawberry plants along the runway at JC? I didn't until now!
Image

Small but very potent! Really good!!
Image

Lunch and a movie. Raining outside again.
Image
Image

Another wood run. Tyler insisted on doing it himself. When pulling didn't work, he tried pushing.
Image

The weather broke enough to get over to Sulphur Creek for breakfast.
Image

They made Mickey pancakes for the kids, which were a hit!
Image
Image
Image

Waiting for a break to get back to Johnson Creek.
Image

Back at JC, time to recharge all the entertainment.
Image

Eating our backup breakfast in camp because we couldn't get to Big Creek, which was cancelled anyway.
Image
Image

Tyler got a little cabin fever. He went out to the plane, head hung down, saying, "I want in the airplane!" He really wanted to go fly. Didn't we all!
Image

Hot chocolate in the morning hit the spot. We were really glad we had the heater this trip. Helped dry out the kids clothes and take the chill out of the tent.
Image

Saturday the weather broke and we had some visitors. Dave and Dee (and puppies which thrilled the kids) as well as Matt, Katie, and Luke.
Image

At the fly-in at Garden Valley Friday afternoon.
Image

The kids were happy to see the puppies again.

Re: 2014 BCP Garden Valley Fly-In Picture Thread

I'm as big a fan of auto giro's as most fixed wing pilots :? but the fit and finish on this German kit 'giro was beautiful. I got to fly a brief bit with it on it's departure, a little bumpy on that side of the valley (the lift was on the opposite side, I know as I hung out there a fair bit working it), I think pilot Cammie was just illustrating the way a fling wing handles the bumps. Plus I had the sun in my eyes, an all around bad setup for close in picture taking, thus the blurriness. Image

Great pictures. Next best thing to being there.... very distant next best thing.

Scary about the blown jug. Glad he was able to get it back around and down safely.

Re: 2014 BCP Garden Valley Fly-In Picture Thread

Here are a few random clips from the week of flying. I was playing around with learning how to use a few editing features and thought I'd throw this together. On the takeoff from JC, you can see the rings of water vapor that some have captured in still photos. Kind of cool.
