Resorts/Getaways North Dakota/Minnesota

Good day All,

Ok a bit off of the aviation topics....I live just North of the Border in Manitoba Canada. Looking for some recomendations on real nice Resorts/Getaway places in preferably Central or Northern Minnesota or North Dakota. Great if they were fly in places, however not a requirement. A close rural runway near by would suffice.

I need to keep happy the one who pays the bills for the 100LL!

If you are into tent camping, Starbuck, Minnesota has a very nice fly-in campout over the 4th of July. It is hosted by the Pope County flyers based in Starbuck. That weekend is the annual Heritage day celebration. Typically have 20 plus fly-in campers.

Starbuck airport (D32) is located at the west end of Lake Minnewaska,(110 miles w/nw of Twin cities) on TC sectional with swimming beach and restaurant across the road. Nice municipal park nearby. Big pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday morning. PICS eat free!!!. Very friendly people. Float planes welcome on the lake.

Airport is 2500'X200' very smooth grass. Have full rest room, kitchen and showers in modern AD building. Free camping at anytime.

Would welcome you there. Look for the Maule next to the hangars. I plan to arrive on June 30 and stay till July 5.

Floatplanes are welcome on the beach (grass is smooth enough for amphibs). Owners are pilots and will treat you and the Accounts Payable Department right!

There is lots to do in the Battle Lake, MN, area. We have a hanger and a vehicle there, (00MN), about 18 east of FFM. Lots of golf courses, camping, state parks, Zorbaz on Ottertail Lake.

I live 25 miles north of Park Rapids, MN and about the same distance south of Bemidji, MN. Actually my place is just east of Itasca State Park, headwaters of the Mighty Mississippi River. There are countless resorts in this area, more lakes than I can count.
What will you be flying and when will you be in the area? I have a short strip and would welcome to meet a fellow BCPer.

Bottineau, North Dakota (about 60 miles north of Minot) is where my family is from. There is a GA airport there and Lake Metigoshe is maybe 15-20 minutes away by car. There is a Peace Garden there (Lake Metigoshe is partly in Canada and partly in the U.S.). There is a reasonably good resort on the lake, Twin Oaks (http://www.twinoaksresort.net/).
