Yeah, mount a short rifle and trigger it with a nosewheel squat switch. That'd really work on your ability to line up with the runway.
It's an even bigger challenge if the target is off to the side.

Judging by the way I have been checked coming to and from Canada and Mexico, I could bring 20 guns and they would never know because they don't look.

Coming back from Mexico on motorcycles 4 years ago, the CBP never looked at my passport or even ask me to take off my full face helmet.

In 2000 I bought a machine in Canada and trucked it to the US myself. Crate was 4X4X6 foot. Again, CBP never even looked inside.

I have never been talked to at any US airport for anything. Border crossing excluded.

Must be because I look so honest and relaxed.

What's an El Prez? A type of tequila?

An El Presidante is a shooting drill developed by the late Jeff Cooper for training body guards and used in almost all of the "action pistol" games.

Three targets at shoulder height, one foot between targets, and about 10 feet down range. The starting position is gun holstered, back to targets, hands in the Bart Stupack (aka surrender) position. At the start signal, turn, draw, engage each target with two rounds, do a mandatory reload, and reengage each target with two rounds. The Robby Leatham's of the world do this in less than six seconds with all A-zone hits on an IPSC target.

Last May I was in Park Rapids Mn, my 185 was sitting on a float trailer while we were fueling up and three guys from Homeland Security walked up and started asking questions. I told them I was getting ready to head home to Canada and they never even looked in the plane, only asked me to report if I ever saw anything suspicious.

I cross the border several times a year, have had the border patrol look in the plane three times at the most and that was on wheels, never on floats. The only time they seemed to be interested, was the time I imported seven guns at once. They (Canadians) would not let me pick up a gun, even though they were cased, but took them out for inspection themselves. The odd thing was I had the four door pickup stuffed, as well as an 18 ft trailer and they never even looked through any of that, probably because I had made a list of items.

Not sure how secure the borders are, but I am thankful crossing is not any more difficult than it is. Steve

I am in NY right now visiting wife's family. I don't take trips without a weapon, ever. But after reviewing NY's imperialistic and illegal gun laws I decided to leave the heat at home and pack only a blade. Felony possession of a hangun by a non-resident without a permit, plus felony possession of a weapon able to hold more than 10 rounds. I decided not to chance it.

When you think about it, it's amazing we have allowed our government to abrogate our fundamental rights and freedom to protect ourselves. I don't mind states having reasonable requirements for concealed carry. But there should be reciprosity between the states instead of the existing inane patchwork of local laws.

I can possess, with appropriate NFA tax stamps paid, a suppressor in NV (there are only 13 states that prohibit possession). Interestingly, you can have one in WA but it's against the law to shoot it! A threaded barrel or pistol grib on my AR . . . no problem in NV. But step over the border into CA with that threaded barrel and, oops, I'm a felon. High capacity magazine in CA? No way, but take it apart and having all the pieces is okay - - just don't put it together or else!

It's sad when you have more to fear from the folks who are supposedly sworn to protect you (of course this isn't really true, according to the Supreme court) than from the folks we're arming ourselves against in the first place. Definite sign of a tyrannical police State.
