Seaplane Lane at Tavares

Floatplanes are as much a staple of exploring the backcountry as anything. If you do it on water, share here.

Seaplane Lane at Tavares

To all arriving Seaplane Pilots coming to Tavares:

Be aware that there is a problem neighbor that is directly adjacent to the Seaplane Base. They are calling the FAA and are causing a stir among a small group of residents.

Please avoid directly overflying the northern shore line and avoid the East end of Wooton Park. Technically speaking the seaplane operations area is located 2000' to the south of the northern shore. Try to keep your landing and departing ops located that far out. It is permissible to step taxi to and from that area. Keep in mind it's difficult for anyone to determine where step taxi begins/ends and a takeoff begins or ends.

There are no buoys or other markers in the lake to determine your distance from the shore.

Jones Brothers Seaplanes are complying with this request from the FAA. You'll see from the Link to a map that the sealane is only east west. Keep things safe!
