Belmont, NV???

Anybody know anything about Belmont, NV? Specifically landing spots walking distance to town.

And Pott's Hot Springs about 34 miles north of Belmont?

I was thinking of some more fun places to fly to while in Austin, NV this August and was looking around Google Earth and noticed the area Belmont is in, looks very nice. In fact it would be nice to explore that whole valley to the north. Just doesn't look like any places to land a C182 easily in that valley. Any wide roads to land on?

Hey Pat...

Lots of nice wide dirt roads to land on that way, also up at the ghost town/state park at Berlin. The park rangers are stump broke about airplanes, and are good guys to BS with. At Berlin just make sure to land downhill from the cattleguard on the main park road. And, as always, watch out for road signs and wires in a few places.

I think you can land your 182 at Belmont, I know ya can at Diana's Punch Bowl, and Potts Hot Springs..

Hey Joe, I gota apologize!! I snuck through town last night around 8-9pm on my way back down to SoCal. I figured it was getting late headed south out of Battle Mt and had the "gota-get-there-itis" for SoCal. I ran into damn near white out conditions (snowing like hell) from Round Mt. to Hwy 6 before Tonopah.

Anyway, back on track here.........After spending a few hours on the Net and Google Earth, I think the Monitor Valley area might be best to explore on one of my driving trips to or from home between SoCal. It still would be cool to fly over that area, though. Looks like a lot of cool scenery to take in, in a very remote, uninhibited part of the state.

I'll keep researching this area and anymore suggestions would still be greatly appreciated.
