Citabria Price

Postby PilotRPI » Wed Jun 27, 2012 10:54 am

What are some good resources to find transaction prices for a Citabria?

It is a 1975, 150hp, carb not FI, no flaps. Mid time engine with TOH about 300 hours ago using refurbed cylinders. Fabric in 2000. New wings from the factory at that time. Decent VFR radio and instr setup. Hangared. Well cared for.

Asking price in the mid-40s is similar to a lot of the Citabrias I've seen recently. But what are they actually transacting at? Are people getting asking prices, or do they expect to come in a bit under asking?

Thanks!

I'd say that's pretty good. I just bought a 76 with flaps and 1560 hrs in October. Still has the wooden spars. Paid 36 for it.

Trade a plane and AOPA have evaluater programs for members. Both are theoretically based on actual sales. I spend a lot of coffee drinking time following airplanes and plotting and my opinionated self thinks both of those evaluators come close to the mark. A $40K Citabria with factory wings, and the gross weight increase that comes with them, is a good deal I think. The wings are just north of $20k and the GW increase is a big deal,in an airplane with a 500ish pound usable load.
