Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Flew over to Spokane from VUO on Tuesday night. Beautiful evening flight over eastern Washington with the wife and dog, not one cloud from the coast to Spokane. Had some business to deal with Wednesday morning then took my grandma up for a scenic Spokane flight and headed home Wednesday nice. It was her first time in a small plane since a biplane ride in 1939 so that was pretty cool. Avgas is expensive in Spokane....

I love that place! I stayed for 2 or so days a couple years ago while flying around the country. Great people!

As Rob mentioned we flew down to SMX to drop off the plane. It was a really rough day of flying. Went to a little grass strip, then flew to breakfast. Which was pretty good mind you! Dropped the plane off, hit oceano for gas then flew up the coast to have lunch at Half Moon bay! And I thought I was full there...then we topped it off with dinner at my place. Talk about a fun filled day and wayy to much good food!

Flew a colleague back to Portland yesterday. Great weather in Southern Oregon. The plan was then to head to Kent, WA to look at a Glastar. The weather was IMC and after shooting the approach in to KHIO and no approach at the airpark in Kent we went into downtown Portland for some shopping and then headed home to Grants Pass.

The wife and I bucking a 40kt headwind on the way back to GP.

IMC in Northern Oregon yesterday vs. clear down south

We decided the REI in the Pearl District was a good place to spend a few hours. Too bad so did the rest of Portland.

Waiting for IFR release out of KHIO, a B-17 decided to join us.

Home in Grants Pass. Sunny and warm.

Flew over to Rancho Murietta and met Bumper for a GPS upgrade yesterday. Was about 40 minutes each way. Looks like they had a big show on Saturday. A few warbirds were still around and the fencing and tent was all still there. I didn't hear anything about it. Maybe a destination for next year.

Up at KDLH right now, just finished my 10 night/towered landings for my commercial license. Beautiful night to fly. Getting light out now, so I can head back in the Citabria to my home unlighted strip. :)
Blessed are the curious, for they shall have great adventures!

Enjoyed your video, Pitts. Interesting mount location. What kind of camera were you using and what did you mount it to?

Just used the gopro with the suction cup mount, mounted right to the side window...a little vibration so may try a new spot next time...also hit a large bug which ruined the last half of the video (edited out hah)

I haven't had the guts to try a suction cup mount yet, especially after watching a few videos on this site where the cameras came off and flopped around on their safety leashes!

Gives you a lot of cool mounting options, though.

Honestly the suction cup I use is great..not sure if there are other ones but word is that they are good to withstand 200kts (won't try that out ha) the first time I used it I mounted it to a 172 on floats with some gorilla tape....you'd be hard pressed to get that to fall off. Used it lots without tape now...also put it on a kneeboard...managed to fall off myself but the camera stayed on. Not sure that I would stick it to fabric but the windows worked well...eventually I'll find or make a mount for the struts, that'll be a good one I think.
