When I woke up this morning it was snowing at my house in North Fork Central Idaho. So when I saw a weather window this afternoon I decided to begin the migration to Caveman via Nevada and Nokai Dome. It was time to leave.

If it is going to be warm as is forecast......what places have water features close by? Mexican Mt. looks to be right on a river. Is it a good place to swim?

Any places that have hikes to waterfalls etc.?

I'm here in Idaho riding dirt toys with the old fireman buddy's. We are back on track, took 1 to the hospital, broken ankle. Just got an external fixator.

I hope to escape NW Oregon Wednesday AM.

Cheers

Rob,
We are planning to camp at pelican point wednesday night. Not sure what your route will be, but your welcome to join. It may be late when we get there.

Hi Chad: thanks for the offer. I will see where the wx takes me. I'll probably make Caveman it to Wednesday if I don't meet M7flyer, but you never know.

Cheers

Rob/Chad and anybody else getting there early.

I am leaving Tuesday afternoon and hoping to make Elko NV to meet up with Mike and check out the Bearhawks on field. Will try and be to Caveman area Wed. evening. I might camp out at Mexican Mt. or head down to Nokai Dome if anybody wants to meet up. Sounds like IdahoMauledriver is already down there......

We're planning on leaving Southern Oregon for Caveman on Thursday morning. We'll probably stop at Elko for gas and arrive at Caveman in the evening on Thursday.

Hey John,
We are trying to get an early start and would go as far as we can Wed. Thinking maybe Denio for mogas.
Looking now for places to stay or camp somewhere along the route.

Just some friendly advice guys, I would recommend Huntington Airport UT 69V, it has the best fuel prices around the area, tie-downs, courtesy car and a dirt runway so you don't have land ABW on the pavement. Mexican MT is about a 15 min flight from Huntington Airport depending what kind of airplane you are flying. Also I have a friend that camped-out at Mexican MT last week and said the no-seems are out. I would fly the early mornings like Idaho in the summer, it has been getting hot in the afternoons down there lately and the canyon flying has been really squirrely. Fly safe and have a good time, Mountainflier.

Earlier this week I thought I'd do a flyby Caveman to check it out. Unfortunately, we were a little north and a little too high(FL350) to get a great view of it, but enough to get me excited about next weekend! One more week!!!

Image

We will be leaving Friday around noon and either go straight to Mack Mesa for the BBQ, or down to Caveman to unload...just depends on the timing. Just don't give our room in the lodge away if we don't show up until after the BBQ!

Gary, we plan on eating breakfast with you both mornings (Sat & Sun). Don't know if the kids will eat, but we'll pay accordingly if they decide that they want pancakes that morning or not. Luckily they don't consume too much.

We'll also be in for the dinner Saturday night.

Fly safe everyone. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting new friends. Looks like it should be quite the turn out.

Oh yeah, some info: I called Gateway Resort today and found out a couple of things. The general store is no longer open. The same for the ice cream place that used to be there. The guy at the adventure center said that they have both closed. The resort still has Paradox Grill for lunch and dinner as well as another place for breakfast.
