IA class

Does anyone know of an IA cram class in the the mid Atlantic area? I'm looking at trying to take one in January and cant find one close to me in northern VA. Also does anyone know of anyone who offers an online IA class.

I bought this software http://www.dauntless-soft.com/ for my Private Pilot written and my A&P written. I like it, and I will use it for my instument too. Not an online class, but it really helped me study for my written. I was able to get a 93% on the actual test and it took me about a half an hour.
I looked into short term schools for doing my A&P. There are some, and I believe some offer IA too. They seem very hard up for students and will call you over and over again once you make contact. That really turned me off from them. Most seem to be in Florida and North Carolina.

I just found Gleim offers an on-line IA class. Anyone have any experience with it, or any Gleim courses.

Hi, I have used the Gleim online IA renewal course for the last 3 or 4 renewals. It works out well, you choose 8 of the 20 available
50 min. study units (one at a time) that you would like to cover. You can stop and restart the training at any time, but once you
have started a unit test you must complete it. When you have completed all 8 it gives you a certificate of completion which you just
send in with your renewal application to your FSDO. Seems to make my PMI happy. It's how I plan to renew again this year. Just as
a note you can begin the course on April 1 and have until March 31 of the next year to complete it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I think I'm going with Gleim. I prefer the classroom environment but an on-line class for $100 sounds pretty good. So it looks like I will be locking myself away for a week and studying. I'm still suffering from PTSD from my CFI rating. I promised myself that was my last FAA test, but apparently I'm some kind of rating junky always looking for my next fix.

I really can't remember, it was over a year ago. I found them all through Google and ad in GA News or Trade a Plane.

I used the Gleim online class to get my IA. Good class and super cheap, it was $100 for the class and another $75 for the test. I highly recommend it for anyone on a budget. As far as the question bank goes the IA test is the only FAA test bank not open to the pubic, but the Gleim practice questions are still almost word for word what you get on the test.

I always tell people to get it if they get the chance. There is no way I could afford my 172 if I had to pay the $110 labor rate in my area.

The IA test is also open book and is really a lot different than the A&P exams. There are quite a few W&B problems and several that involve an aircraft, an AD and you are to determine what section of the AD applies to the specific aircraft given certain criteria. So memorizing a 700 question bank as you would with the A&P exams wouldn't work, it's more about solving problems by working with the documentation as you would while doing a typical annual.
