You just made my wife really happy, that was one of her favorite parts of the fly-in last year. Zane might have got a bowl if she wasn't there!

Yeah, that should be pretty cool. I'll have to think of something to make it a special day (other than being at JC).

I was so worried that the fly-in was going to be the last weekend of June, wife's b-day that weekend. Now that I'm Mr. Mom I'll just have to load up my daughter and spend the whole week there :D

So ya'll start feelin the itch...

Haha..... yeah. Don't think he's too much into road-racing. Unless a racer is interested in buying a plane from him :D It's the Barber road race that weekend.

I might be in Idaho the week before (June 8-18) if anybody is planning to come in early. Could meet for breakfast or lunch??

OK Guys/Gals, I plan to be there this year. It will be my first and am really looking forward to it. I don't know how all this Pot-Luck works out in the outback but will keep up with all the posts and hopefully I will figure it all figured out before I leave. Right now I plan to arrive early for the event and after it leaving for another fly-in in SE Oregon for a week.
It's not my first trip to the Utah, Nevada, Idaho Backcountry, just my first time to Johnson Creek.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You'll need a way to keep a covered dish hot, taking care not to overcook whatever you're bringing. Or, a cold dish cold, but not too cold. Standards are high, and if you can't pack all your gear AND meet these culinary guidelines, don't even bother coming.

Ha ha, yeah I went through that a bit the first time, like I was going to pack a microwave or something! Think food poisening, and try and avoid it. Just make sure you bring that fuel injected 912S, thats the important thing, sounds interesting.

Gary there is a freezer on site and town is 15 minutes away by the shuttle van. You can get the very basics there. Your gonna love Johnson Creek.

Gary: you can fly to McCall. That is where most of us gas up. You can walk across the street and get 91 mogas no ethanol. Next to the gas station is the big grocery/sporting goods store. They have a deli. I like chicken strips. :D

I am planning on attending also and arriving early as well. This being my first Johnson creek fly in and potentially being in my beech baron, it should make for a enjoyable time. So many questions...
Which side of the airstrip and position for best viewing, not going to be actively flying if I bring the twin, mostly spectating. Do I need to contact the caretaker prior to my arrival ? Park anywhere? Share campsites? Camp on field? I am monitoring this thread, anyone advice would be great.

Gary, if you really want to be a fan favorite, bring a homemade ice cream maker and make a few gallons of homemade ice cream.

Or just do what most of us do, raid the Safeway on your Saturday morning fill up at McCall.

Bam Bam,

Sounds fun! I would park your Baron on the north end of the field to keep it more out of the way. No need to contact the caretakers prior to flying in, unless you need specific info. Campsites are first come first serve, but camping under, errr, near the wing is allowed as well. No bad views at JC! 8)

Idaho is going through some issues with non-eth. No more is being brought in through the pipelines; any station that wants to keep E0 is going to have to ship it in by truck. All the stations here is east Idaho are out of E0. One guys I snowmobile with owns a couple stations and he is no longer going to carry 91, only 88 as that is what is coming up the pipeline. The terminal bends the 88 with ethanol to make 91, he worked out a deal to have the 88 delivered to his stations.

I hear the same story from my snowmobile buddies on the west side of the state. McCall is kind of a Snowmobile mecca so they might keep E0, would be worth a call.

Just called:
Jim's Grocery‎
147 North 3rd Street
McCall, ID 83638-4408
(208) 634-2340

87 clear. No 91 right now. They are trying to get the 91 clear back.

I will happily make a run in the Mooney and Load her up (as long as I don't have to fly the stuff out!) in McCall. I'm sure others will do the same! I have about 600lbs of room!

Edit: I'm sure if you make enough the caretakers probably have a freezer you can use for whatever reason for a short time!

We have a group of 5-6 planes coming from S. CA we hope to get in on the 20th, We possibly have a vehicle driving in from WA to meet us and if that is the case we can have a lot of supplies hauled in, I will know closer to the flyin.

See you all there.

Scott/Joey - I would like to go up again on Tuesday (19th), but that is my wedding anniversary and don't know if its going to fly (pun intended) so might have to be the 20th. Which means Burson will beat me to prime parking again.
