Lots of others with more time and better advice than me, but here's my two cents.

How important is it for you to have a tailwheel? Having some time in 180, 185, T206, and Found Bushhawk, I found the T206 to be head and shoulders above the others in terms of comfort and versatility (assuming your definition of versatility doesn't require heavy bush flying). Doesn't quite have the sex appeal of the others (people don't come out of the FBO to ogle at your 206), but it was a daisy to fly. Depending on price and how many bells and whistles you wanted, you might have enough left over to buy something like a PA-12 for tailwheel stuff, or enough100LL to go on some great adventures in the 206.

Given the fact that there are a lot of really good used planes in this buyer's market, I personally wouldn't consider anything factory new.

More than anything, if you've put yourself in a position where you have $200,000 to spend on a plane, congratulations and enjoy the hell of it no matter what you buy! =D>

180 or 185.

family has outgrown the 170. But first I'd have to buy my wife a better car.

That does it with that remark Tim. With Bam Bam's backing, the Canadian delegation will be coming your way, first we flour bomb Disneyland and who knows from there. $200,000 Canadian won't get us far you realize.

I think you meant, "with what remains, I would maintain it for a season or two  Pretty sweet option for those that can swing it, definitely

What's your point? A Canadian dollar is worth about 99 cents U.S. as of this morning. Pretty level for all intents and purposes.

I am just blowing Stewardb (I don't use smilies), but my point was that even though the Canadian dollar is about on par with the US dollar now, it does not have near the same buying power (at least not in my part of Canada). The same groceries, or goods made in the US or Canada cost much more here, car gas is about $4.60 a gallon. Add 14% sales tax to the prices (here in Ontario) and it really adds up. I understand Alaska also has high prices. Again, I was just kidding, making fun of us Canadians, sorry if I came across as being serious, I did not mean to.

No worries. I was just curious. I'm still trying to understand why the original poster got treated the way he did. His inquiry seemed reasonable to me.

Boredom and jealousy :D I'm not sure why he took it so seriously....., obviously all were kidding. He got some good advice a bit later, I hope he saw it.

Me, I'd quit work and buy 200K of mo-gas for the S-7S and go fly.

The replies have a lot to do with who wants to have fun on any given wednesday. That much money to work with doesn't seem to be very limiting in choices of what to fly for two in the mountains. Immediately your thoughts turn to what fun you could have with the rest. BCP'ers get around to the serious considerations eventually. I don't think any offense was intended but I do owe an apology to referencing Gump's divorces in the post. It should have its own thread.

There was a punch line to a joke where the miscreant is asked what happened to all the money?.......
The reply was something like "Well, most of it got spent on girls, booze, and drugs..... And I guess the rest of it sorta got wasted........"

Rob, waz zat you?

Rob's 200K he took with him is running out. Pay attention to experience.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to poke fun at someone for substituting teenage texting shorthand for real words. Lighten up.

Given your flight profile, the Maule 235 would be good. Frankly I would go for a C185 if I wanted a taildragger, or otherwise, a C206. Both are real workhorses here in Alaska.

My mom was born and raised in Magrath, Alberta. Been there many times and love it except for their up tightness about guns.
