I have a sennheiser hmec200 noise cancelling headset. It has a bad wire right where it goes into the boom mic. Cant figure how or if you can get the wire out of the boom.Has any one repaired somthing like this? sennheiser wants 370 dollars flat rate repair(ouch).Thinking about just cutting the wire and trying to repair it myself Hoping there is enough good wire left outside the boom.Im just curious if any one has had success fixing a similar problem.

Great example of why a DC is a better buy. You could send a DC with the same problem back to DC, and in a week you'd have it back with a new mic, boom, and probably wiring and maybe electronics--and a bill for nothing.

I have had same good experience with both DC and Lightspeed

Repairing it like you describe is your best bet... The worst you can do is completely kill it and then the cost will be the same flat rate price.... As the others have said, I too have personally had GREAT service from Lightspeed but that is water under the bridge.... The companies that pull the "flat rate price" crap are pond scum.. if you need a .50 cent piece replaced you pay full price. Garmin is getting real bad about this billing concept... I guess you can get your monies worth by laying the headset on the driveway and backing over it 20 times till it is reduced to a pile of scrap, sweep up the pieces, box them up and ship it back to SennHeiser... For 370.00 you will get back a new headset. #-o
