Hull Insurance

While talking to my agent about the donated flight for charity I asked a few other questions that may be interesting.

I told him about my trip to Mann Lake, OR two weeks ago and said that my plane was parked at a gravel parking area by the lake and was tied down there. The wind really came up and I was wondering about wind damage (plane upside down). He said that I would be covered but because that I was at a place that is not normally used for aircraft I may have a hard time at next renewal.

He said that if it happened at my ranch at a place that I normally land at and tie down at there would be no problem at renewal but maybe a bit more money. He said that if I normally keep the strip mowed they treat it the same as an FAA airport.

Curious--what is your insurance company?

You need a new agent, he's looking for an excuse to raise your rates, or cancel you.

Do not think so. I let them know up front what I was flying and what I liked to do. With every renewal they always provide me with a quote for a cheaper carrier. But the cheaper one does not cover off airport opperations. It was about 50 bucks cheaper last go arround. When I moved the plane to the ranch, the rates came down.
