Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

The snow needs to be fairly SHALLOW to allow a definite takeoff at places like Vines! (like those guys get in MN) At cabin creek, the only significant snow depth was on the runway which is slightly depressed from the surrounding ground. Vines, being deeper in the canyon had deeper snow, but not the chest deep stuff that there was at Bruce Meadows. When going into Vines, I did several circuits landing downstream to pack the snow down. Landing downstream at Vines was a lot easier than landing downhill at Soldier and Cabin! Yes, you could just go and plunk it down normally the first time, but it seems a lot easier and quicker to compress the snow with the plane than do all that stomping.
Matt.

Ah, stomping down a track with snowshoes--great way to warm up :D

highroad, STOPPING is rarely a problem on skis, unless you're on ice.

Now, getting AIRBORNE again, THAT can be a bitch in tight places.

Stomp, stomp, stomp... [-o<

Took advantage of the nice weather on Thursday and went out to bore some holes in the sky over the Willamette Valley. Took off from Scappoose in the pacer and went to hit as many aiports as I could until I had to have the plane back for the next guy. (The joys of renting :( )

Cornelius Skyport - little soft from the rain.....
Starks T.O.
Chehalem
Sportsmen
Aurora
Mulino
Valley View
County Squire
Sandy River -

Then back to Scappose by the way of the Willamette. Always like flying over downtown portland at 1500'.

Wanted to go to Scottsbluff to fly Clint's J-3 Cub but the weather in Nebraska got the best of us. We stayed in the Denver/Colorado Springs area instead. We did Centennial, Kelly Airpark, Bijou Bottom, Matt's Strip, Calhan astro turf, Meadowlake, Springs East, ran the Basin, back to Centennial then back to Meadowlake for me. Great weather and an awesome time.
