1st I heard of it. I'm glad you are OK, have insurance and don't fly a Maule.

You know with 2 big rocks and some rope you could have flown it home. me bad

July 12 - 3:45 pm
July 16 - 10:15 am
July 22 - 6:12 pm
Aug 4 - 12:52 pm
Aug 9 - 4:42 pm

It always takes longer than you hope it will and there are too many things that you can't control.
Plus now is the time to add/remove all of the items on the wish list. Never done the Heli-Ski thing
before......should be fun!

AKT:

So once again you got her home without a ferry permit eh? Is this a "keeping up with Lonnie" thing? :)

Glad you're OK and still have some feelings for the plane even after she snarled at you and scratched you right on the wallet. It's hard to think of them as "equipment". Hope you know somebody who has 180 firewalls stacked up like tupperware. Coming apart is a bit easier than going back together when you don't want any wrinkles and you don't want to box up anything that should have been attended to. It ain't Legos. Legos are hard.

You sound motivated, but my brother's Luscombe is still in pieces after several years, mostly because he wants it perfect. Best of luck and I'm guessing:

July 27, 3PM (2012 :D )
Aug 17, 4PM
Aug 21, 6PM
Aug 24, 6PM
Aug 25, 10AM

I'll take my fleece to the dry cleaners next week. I think I've got plenty of time.

No ferry permit needed. Tail up taxi practice in front of my hanger on the tar-mat. Feds called it an "occurrence" thankfully.

Update: Wing x and Sportsman going on. Engine is in a box headed to WA to see Steve Knopp. He is still saying 3 weeks for its return. New fire wall is in route. All in all, my own guess is about 4-6 weeks from today. Any bets?

Thanks for the opportunity and excitement!

Just an update here:

Engine was sent to Steve knopp last Thursday officially. According to Steve I will have my new engine in 3 weeks or less.
Image

Its also a great time to do some very much needed cleaning in an area that has not seen a rag in over 50 years I am betting. Seriously removed close to 3lbs of dirt and grime, not to mention at least 20 different types of screws, nut and bolts...
Makes ya wonder where they all came from :-k

Here is a photo of the new break lines and some wires getting cleaned up

And over the weekend we have removed the Horton kit and are now installing the X wing and Sportsman...

You are lucky the feds called it an incident and not accident. The FSDO told me this week, if the firewall is bent, it is an accident. I am still waiting to see how my Tuesday crash is categorized.
I like the sound of incident better. :?

Kevin,

Id love to see some intel on the Wing-X install. That one seems to be the premium STOL mod but I'm not sure I understand how it all attached and plays together.

Keep the photos coming..

Kevin,
Ouch, sorry to see that; I feel your pain.
On the positive side, a good time to work on those hard to reach places and the mods sound like a good way to make the best out of the down time.

I'd love to join you for some skiing. Just getting the tele's waxed up now....
If you are still open to guesses, i'm betting:
June 29th 4pm
June 30th 2pm
July 2nd 2pm
July 3rd 4pm

Good luck getting it done!

It would appear that once again, Kevin's enthusiasm for flying is only outweighed by his generosity. My guesses are:

June 27 10:00AM
June 28 10:00AM
July 5 10:00AM
July 9 10:00AM
July 11 10:00AM

Can't wait to see what Kevin does with this beast once he gets used to flying it!

July 17, 4:00 pm
July 21, 10:00 am
Aug. 6, 10:00 am

Best of success...

July 17 3:59 PM
June 31 9 AM.

I hope "as of June 5 was inclusive? [-o<

Most people don't know this; I was once a sponsored skier with the Carhart/ NRA ski team. :) Or maybe I've just been called "Duck Hunter" a few times on the slopes.

I do believe I have seen the "duck hunter" riding the lifts often!!!

Knopp has the engine, new firewall is ready for install along Wing X and Sportsman going on now. No other upgrades...

YOU HAVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT PST TODAY (6/5/12) TO PLACE YOUR BETS ON THE FINISH TIME. you get 5 bets and it must include time. If there is a tie, thats great! You still win. Some of you have only 1 bet in. Others do not have a time. Get fired up...this is worth over $5 GRAND to you. Yes you can sell it and give the money to Zane if you dont ski...
