The first time I landed there I knew that prior permission was required. I called and the gal that answered the phone did not even know that they had an airstrip. I finally got permission.

Be aware that this airport is on native american land. They think that it is a soveryn nation. So if they get pissed they can take your plane and you have to fight them in their court. Not worth it for the chile dog and soda.

Well, one approach might be to avoid pissing people off when one visits. They get plenty of traffic, both at the airport and at Goulding's Trading Post, due to the John Wayne westerns that were filmed there and because it's a beautiful area. I've flown in, and was well received by the folks there. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

I've flown in without permission. Yeh, it's a private strip but it's all about commercialism. They have a motel, trading post and resturant. they want your business. Just don't try to go around, you'll get a face full of rock.
