How It's Made: Aircraft Engines

Cool segment from the Science Channel show "How It's Made." They've done a few other aircraft related segments too, one of which was the Dream Tundra.

Looking like a Lycoming based on the overhead cam? I'm not that great at distinguishing L from C.

Pretty good guess, but this is what gave it away for me:

I couldn't make that out when they put the valve covers on...just looked like a blur. What would you do without valve covers? Come on...be a man, watch your camshaft.

Yeah, I thought the turbocharger one was cool too. How It's Made is one of my favorite shows.

Not really an overhead cam engine, still has pushrods. L= cam over crank & oil scavenge lines to the heads. C= cam under crank & oil drains thru pushrod housing tubes back into the case.

Cool videos, I love this show! The prop blade machining was real interesting.
Blessed are the curious, for they shall have great adventures!
